 In celebration of World Cancer Day, Save the Cord Foundation is proud to present this fascinating and inspiring interview with Dr. Rajneesh Nath and his patient, Virginia. In 2013, Virginia was diagnosed with cancer at 81 years old and told initially that there were no treatment options given her age. Luckily, one of her doctors referred her to the University of Massachusetts where she met Dr. Rajneesh Nath. He reviewed her options and recommended a cord blood transplant because it was easier to match than a bone marrow stem cell transplant and readily available. He also considered the fact that cord blood transplants typically lead to fewer issues with Graft versus Host Disease. Virginia had no hesitation about proceeding with the cord blood transplant. She knew it was her best chance at finding a cure. She made the right choice! Meet Virginia and hear how the decision to pursue a cord blood transplant was made.
