6/20/2025

Save the Cord Foundation and WellSky are proud to welcome Janette Sampson and Colin Baker as our featured speakers for the next edition of Share the Science on Thursday, July 10th at 1pm US Eastern Time / 12 noon Central Time.

Share the Science is a free webinar series focused on the cord blood industry and the latest research in this field. As always, we invite both health professionals and the general public to join us for this unique online educational series. Learn more about this exciting educational series here.

Cord blood answers the call:
Treating a case of myelodysplastic syndrome

Cord blood is not often the obvious choice for cancer patients. For Colin, it was the only choice. In this session of Share the Science, we will meet Colin Baker who was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) just over 5 years ago. We will hear how he went from diagnosis to cord blood transplant in a matter of weeks, just before Covid hit the UK. We will also meet Janette Sampson, a Clinical Nurse Specialist with decades of experience in bone marrow transplant. Janette was a key member of the medical team leading Colin through his cord blood transplant -- it was her 1st cord blood transplant!

This session will provide a critical look at the cord blood transplant process from contrasting perspectives: patient vs nurse. In particular, we will hear Janette and Colin detail their insights on the following:
  • A patient's perspective fighting MDS from diagnosis to innovative cord blood transplant
  • A nurse's perspective working with cord blood transplant for the first time
  • Comparing bone marrow vs cord blood transplants
  • Advice for cancer patients considering cord blood transplants

Join us on July 10th for this inside look at the cord blood transplant process!
