When Save the Cord Foundation co-founders, Charis Ober and Anne Sarabia, worked in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries, they were invited to tour a cord blood bank in Tucson, Arizona. It was life-changing. During their tour, these career women and mothers met two extraordinary children who had received life-saving cord blood transplants. One child won a battle with leukemia and the other with sickle cell anemia. They are both living happy and healthy lives thanks to cord blood. It was then that Charis and Anne decided that no more cord blood should go to waste.

Charis has more than 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. She graduated from The University of Arizona with a degree in marketing and gained extensive sales and marketing experience by educating physicians, hospitals and medical staff on scientific advances and new product technology. She is married to Dr. Richard Ober and has a son and daughter.

Anne spent 17 years in the medical industry working for top biotech/pharmaceutical firms such as Scios and Schering-Plough. A graduate of The University of Arizona, Anne earned a bachelor of arts and sciences degree in Spanish with minors in Italian and international business. She has two daughters, Rylie and McKenna.
